Hawaiian Feather Lei Black and Yellow Spiral

Description

New, hand made by me of dyed goose feathers tied to a central cord and finished with satin ribbon ends. It is black with a yellow spiral.
It is kamoe koena or second cut feathers which are V shaped and make for a full, fluffy look. It is very soft to the touch.  26" long.
A Little Bit About Me                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            I was born and raised in Hawaii and grew up on a sugar plantation the no longer exists.
I am a member of the Daughters of Hawaii thanks to my mother and her missionary ancestors. I made my first feather lei as a teenager. It was my Daughters of Hawaii uniform lei, a lei that is worn at formal occasions by the Daughters of Hawaii.
I came back to lei making after I retired and had time on my hands. I took lessons and got many helpful tips from kumu Mele Chun at her store Na Lima Mili Hulu Noeau on Kapahulu Avenue. My lei can be found there and at the gift shop at Queen Emma Summer Palace.
I have made 175 leis to date. I enjoy making and sharing my beautiful feather creations.
