BEAUTIFUL WMF Art Nouveau Pattern 42 Sauce Boat
Fine sauce boat made in Germany circa 1898-1900. It is decorated with leaves and roses with their stems forming intricate swirling whiplashes. It is fashioned in pure pewter. The firm was known for its progressive style and was the leading factory of making pewter in the period 1894-1912. The really heavy metalwork is in very good vintage condition to its age, showing pin marks specially to the interior, see pictures please, mentioned for completeness but do not detract from the elegance of its design. It is fully hallmarked ‘KAYSERZINN 4299’ inside an oval cartouche. It measures 8 ½” long, 5 ¾” across to the tray and 3 1/8” high. The top measures 7 ¼” long by 4” wide. It stands on four delicate feet. LOVELY PIECE indeed!
